The Strand Hotel, closed for 10 years and an eyesore in Bude, has now been reinvented as a modern contemporary hotel. The owner is putting on a 7 day fringe festival with daily bands, and the largest beer festival in Cornwall. This will give visitors to Bude and the Jazz Festival an experience in music closely related to jazz, including blues, bluegrass, jazz/funk, comedy and a chance to experience traditional Cornish hospitality. All fringe performances begin at 9.00 pm

Vanity – Rock/Blues/Funk/Country band

Monday 29th August
Roadkill – local jazz/funk band

Tuesday 30th August
The Mark Lawrence Trio – blues

Wednesday 31st August
An evening of Comedy featuring Mark Olver and friends –
straight from the Edinburgh Festival

Thursday 1st September
Kath and the Bluegrass Boys

Friday 2nd September
Mike Lunn’s New Orlean’s Rhythm’n’blues

Entry to all the Fringe events is £5, payable on the door.

The Fringe will involve the whole New Orleans experience including food – Cajun chicken, red beans and rice, etc – do feel free to dress up!

The Strand will be doing special room offers for all stroller ticket holders and meal offers that accompany the rooms.
